To start a programming for a PIC chip, you must need a computer, softwere, and a device called PIC writer.

Software to compile source file, MPLAB, could be downloaded from website of Microchip Technology Inc.

Next needed is PIC writer. Informations are also available on above sites.

In the case of me, though I have no experience to make electronic device, I decided to construct from scratch. The way was not easy..., but I could at all !! In the original schematic the power supply was AC100V, but I can not obtain a transformer 100to16V in the shop, I chose 9V battery as alternative.

The battery is needed in a short term just when program is written, I feel AC isn't neccesary.

This is my PIC writer!!.... Don't laugh at a poor appearance. It works!! :-)

And more, a writer driver software is also needed. My recommendation is

PIC Writer for Windows by Mr. Ishijima
Though I don't know about English version.

My first circuit is below. PIC was 16F84, with re-writable flash memories, and sample program was from CD-ROM. Turning the switch on ......YES!! LED is blinking!! Incredible!!
