LapTalk with stopwatch
Automated laptimer developed by AORc

Japanese R/C car club on the internet, AORｃ have developed many equipments. Especially, Laptalk system is exellent device that can measure a laptime by sensing IR pulse from a R/C car automatically. In the full version of this system, measured laptime was transferred to driver as a human voice like ' Laptime is 17.51 seconds, this is a best lap.' via FM radio. Very impressive system.

This time, I made a tiny version od this system with a stopwatch. In this, I can not check laptime on realtime, but do after driving as logged-data.

Receiver
From right side, IR pulse is coming in, and switch the stopwatch in left. This stopwatch can memory 100 laptimes.

Transmitter
This unit is on tha car. very small enough not to disturbe a driving.

After the test at a circuit, it was found IR is too weak on a aoutdoor.

Improvements

To overcome this problem, IR must be strengthed. I used transistor and high-powered IR-LED.

LED is TLN115A, resistor51Ω、transistor 2SC3733, 4.7k on base.
